OK, after a few hours of playing, this is MY opinion. DONT DO IT, NOT FOR THE NOVICE!!!!!

The good:

I love the new TF3D2, nice, speedy, and looks really really good (I love it!)
WM6.5 takes a little getting used to. Its like going from XP to Vista but for the good. Alot of new bells and wistles.

The Bad:

Talderon I have no clue where you get your performance from, but it's a step back IMO. Matter fact, original ROM was faster than this. e-mail and contacts, playing with them is speedy. anything else is a dog! IE is a dogg. I can no longer get to Bank of America (MSNBC was OK). The screen zoom is horrible. Games, again no clue. I also do not like the fact if your deep in "Menus" and hit the "X", you do not go back one screen, you go home! Not comffy with the new "Start" as you no longer get a drop down, you get new screen with unfamilar icons.

TF3D2 and new interface I love. The performance is not what I expected.

Again, I have only had limited time on it and will likely give it a few weeks before I make a determation to go back. but unless your a "Fuze'aholic" I would stay away.

Just my $0.02.

Not that it matters, but weather is also a dud? If you add a location, Sweden and Austraila is not there. you have an option to type in a country but there is no touch screen keyboard. If you slide open screen and attempt to type in location, it opens contacts?

I have a feeling I will be flashing this again, whether cooked update or backwards, again REAL soon!

UPDATE: RamSweeper works (dropped from 63% to 50%) but the acknowledge message was in Spanish?
UPDATE: used to explore>my music and find a song, press and hold and have option to set as ringtone. No more.
UPDATE: No Sprite Backup (my expertise), its PIM backup. Gotta test this after I get configured
UPDATE: On home screen where you see missed calls, You ALWAYS have missed calls. Even if you delete ALL calls!

OK, In my time here I have always tried to give my opinion to both sides of the coin. Not all is bad with this ROM. It really really really takes some playing and getting used to. Once configured to "Your" taste and with an open mind, you have an out of this world MobilePC. (Still not a fan of the performance).

If I were a sales guy that basically just used my phone for company e-mail, I would definately stay away from this. You will be miserable!

If you have 100 post here and spend 10+ hours a day playing with your Fuze, there are rewards that await you!

Additionally, I would follow this thread.........Sometime in August or Sept this should be tweeked to perfection.

DO NOT INSTALL DataBaseWeatherEditor! It wil let you edit, but when you access Weather in TF3D2, it crashes TF3D2.  I had to unstall and reboot. BUT after playing with the one with TF3D2, I got the international cities I wanted and visit most (NYC, UK, Stockholm, and Sydney!)

1. I hate the IE on here, the zoom is just not working for me!

And after 1.5 hours of playing, I cannot figure out how to enable cookies! (which is why I cannot get to bank and a few other sites. Any Clue?

LOL! Sorry I have not been able to follow this thread quicker, just some stuff going on here at home.

Anyway, As for my performance, I am not sure where you are seeing that it is a "dog" since it has been nothing but fast, responsive and "snappy" for me. I haven't tweaked it much since I haven't really found too much about the ROM that isn't working.

I HATE HATE pocket IE, so I never even ran it. I can't use BofA Mobile since I live in WA, so not something I need. I am not much of a web user on my phone since I hate the mobile versions of most sites and not a huge fan od zooming. I'll use it as needed, but that is not much at all.

Contacts load really fast for me, after enabling the "scroll wheel", it's quick and snappy. Emails in TF3D2 load a LOT faster in that interface and when I go into my Outlook mail, it loads nice as well, even with several hundred mails in there.

The "New" SMS interface is a little wonky, but going into the "classic" conversation view is working normally.

Now, I am still using the June 30th ROM, and depending on how things go, I may update to a newer one for kicks.

All in all though, I would give this ROM an 8.5/10.

Oh yeah, I would definitely agree with Dave on one thing, this is NOT for the weak at heart and for people that are not sure what they are doing. If you are going to try this for the first time, Back-Up your Data!!! Oh yeah... and Back-Up your Data, Back-Up your Data, Back-Up your Data, Back-Up your Data, Back-Up your Data, Back-Up your Data, Back-Up your Data!!!

Read ALL of the posts and information on the ROM and the How-To's!!!

Other than that, cake. Smiley

Could it be that we don't see eye-to-eye a lot because I am 6'5"? :p

In truth though, Dave may be the "Official forum idiot" (which is a title not to belittle him in the slightest), he has made some doosey's for mistakes and then posted about them, not to have people make fun of him, or to show how he earned that title (ok, maybe a little on the second one :p) but to help others not make the same mistakes.

His posts are good reading, and also have entertainment value as well!! Smiley

Along with Dave, those of us that post here just want to help people get the most out of their Mobile PC's and enjoy them as much as we do.

Back to backing up.

I keep my information on here. ALL my information. I need it, so backing up is important, but also, I try and keep it simple.

1. Contacts

I keep ALL of my contacts in Outlook (MS Exchange when I can, or sync with personal PC). This help restoring them nice and easy when you need to. Just Sync and go.

2. Emails

I won't set up an email account on my Fuze unless I can use IMAP. POP does not do it for me because I HATE logging into my account after reading mails on my phone and having to sort through the ones I have already read and whatnot.

Be sure, though, if you do set it up, don't have them "moved" off the server when your phone gets them. Also, keep any sent mails in your "sent items" folder on the server, so if your phone goes TU on ya, you have mails still.

Don't set it to delete mails off the server, just have them moved to the server trash. This will help in case of the accidental deletes on the phone (saved my butt many times).

2. Applications/Settings

I keep a copy of ALL the .CAB files I installed on my device on my SD Card in a separate folder. This way, if I hard reset or re-flash a new ROM, I can easily re-install all my apps as needed.

If you do a lot of registry tweaks on your phone, it would be good to know how to make .CAB files out of them for easier integration. If you are advanced enough to tweak the Reg, you should have no problems making .CAB files for those tweaks.

Set all your applications (Office, Camera, Music and whatever else you want to keep) to store all the data on your Storage Card. This way, all you have to do is pull the memory card to save your data before you hard reset or re-flash.

If you think Memory Cards are too expensive, then look at New Egg.

You can get 16GB MicroSDHC cards in the $50 range and 8GB ones for under $20. Well worth the investment!!!

Even with all these suggestions, BACK UP YOUR DATA!!! Cheesy

Hey Bill Gates, Before this ROM I would listen to my FM radio at work for 2 hours, play with it, and usually USB charge at 3:00PM before I left work to play with phone at happy hour.

Today, I listen to radio for 1.5 hours. 100% to 30%!!!! Quick drain, even with phone in sleep mode.

With that said, Yes you can get a storage card for $50.00. But not all storage card are the same!!! (I have a post here somewhere we challenged each other!) I had a 16Gb MicroCenter for $49.00. My 16Gb SanDisk was double that, but well worth it.

As for my title, I worked hard for that!!! Honestly, we all have including Mod's and Admin's as you said, "to help others not make the same mistakes!!!" and enjoy their MobilePC like we do!

Yeah, some "cheap" memory cards can be a little iffy, but if you go with a top brand like San Disc, Kingston or even Trend Micro, then you really can't go wrong.

I have had the same 16GB (and several 8GB) MicroSDHC cards that I use (with adapters) in multiple devices like my Phones, Digital Cams (Still and Video), as well as the kids DSi and many other things, with no compatibility issues.

Back on Topic, so did you stay with this Cooked ROM or did you rollback? I'm staying!

As we both agreed, if your a casual user that makes phone calls and text now and then, YOU WILL BE MISERABLE with this. If you want to push the limit (or even attempt to push it) you will be rewarded!

Oh, I wouldn't be able to go back to a WM 6.1 ROM now... I am pretty much stuck with WM 6.5 ROM's now.

I have downloaded the Kitchen and will be playing with ROM Cooking this weekend.

I have a spare Fuze so I will have a way to test things. Will release my Cooked ROM's here first for suggestions and whatnot before I head over to XDA. Smiley

300ZX stated he might have an extra Fuze for sale. I will likely grab that. As we are close (NYC Area) we can both play with it!

Cheesy

I think it would be fun to cook a ROM and see what I can do with it... I'll be sure the ROM you install (Dave) has some really great Nude images for backgrounds and makes all kinds of "pron" sound effects... so be sure to flash it at work... Tongue

Seriously, it would be good to see how it works deep down like this. Smiley
