I am very close to getting the TP, however I have a question.

Can you have a different ringtone/sound for say, incoming call, text, and calendar?
Also can you turn off ring/sound for incoming and text and still be able to get alerted to calendar alerts?

Thank you!

in short yes!

you can assign different rings to different contacts, you can assign different sounds to different events which includes texts versus calendar alerts.

you can have ring set to vibrate only but still get audible sounds for other events.

Thank you for your answers..

But can you turn off tones/vibrate for certain events and leave tones on for other events?

Thanks again.

each notification event has a tick box for playing sound or not along with a drop down to select the sound, a tick box for displaying a message on the screen, and a tick box for vibrate.

a couple of the notifications dont allow the message to screen such as active sync since something else is displayed on the screen anyway.

also some notifications have the option to flash the light thats around the middle bottom button.

To select a new ring tone:

Go to Start : Settings : Under the "Personal" tab click Phone.

Should bring up a few drop down menus.  Go to the drop down menu next to "Ring tone" and see if you can find your purchased ring tone.

To find your purchased ring tone:

Go to Start : Programs : File Explorer

Top left corner of the screen click on the drop down menu and click on "My Device"
Click "Windows"
Scroll down and click "Rings"

All of your ring tones should be saved in that folder.  If you download any short mp3's you can save them in this folder and you should see it as a ring tone in your phone option.

Hope all of this helps you out.

Thanks! Mick

Hey guyz I waz wondering if any of you could help me out with my mac/ tilt prob. See I wanna put a custom ringtone for the txt messages but I don't know how I've heard so many different wayz but all of them need active sync and doing it through the computer. I have a mac and as we all know mac and Windows don't get along. So I waz wondering is there any way I could make one of my song already on the phone into a custom txt ringtone through the phone? If any one can help plz do thank yall.

It depends. Windows Mobile will only allow you to set an audio clip of around 300k as a ringtone or notification tone. So you won't be able to set an entire song as a ring tone. You'll have to snip the parts out of it that you want or find it on-line.

As for getting tones onto your phone. That is another animal, and I will have to deffer that to someone who owns/uses a MAC. Sorry.

If you have a data plan and an email account that will let you send larger attachments (like GMAIL), you can mail it to yourself and download the attachment directly to your phone and get it to the device that way.

I have mine in the root folder of my Storage Card... all my WM phones have picked them up there and displayed them in the drop down list without having to do anything.

To set an MP3 file as your ringtone:
1. Copy the MP3 file to the My Ringtones folder on your device
2. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then touch Sound.
3. Scroll down and then touch ringtone.
4. In the Ringtones list, select the MP3 file as your ringtone

Cute ringtones for your family, dsims!  LOL

Right now, all my contacts are peaceful birds chirping except for my husband, who is a rooster crowing.  That suits him.  He can always be heard crowing above everybody else.  LOL

Free ringtones and wallpapers can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/default.mspx

If you already have a windows live id, you can use that to sign in.  If not, you'll need to create one.   You can trust the microsoft site.  There are other websites that offer free ringtones, some trustworthy others not - just be careful if you download from other sites.
