After almost of year of using a Fuze, I have only recently become proficient enough at thumb typing to really make good use of Word mobile.  Now,  I can never have a phone that does not include Word.

I do almost everything for both my jobs in either Word or Powerpoint with some Excel thrown in.  As for my personal stuff, I use Word for a lot of that too.  It is just so amazingly easy to sync my Fuze Word documents with my home or office p.c.!!!

If I am out in the field, I can whip out my Fuze and take notes in Word.  When I get back inside, I can just drop that Word file full of notes onto my p.c. and edit it into a real article.  No writer or reporter should be without something like this.  I don't have to carry around a tablet and a pen anymore!  Hurray.  This is great.

It is a real time saver too because I don't have to retype what I already hand wrote.  My Fuze notes are already typed and all I have to do is edit around those already typed notes.  Flesh out the story, so to speak, make full sentences etc.

I used it to do an interview last week and it worked out perfectly.  I could type fast enough with my thumbs to keep up with the interviewee.  I didn't have to hand write notes or tape record her answers to transcribe later.

I've also been using it to keep a grocery list.  I almost always have my phone with me, so as soon as someone says we need something, I pull out the phone and add it to the list.  When I am at the store now, I never say, "Oh, I forgot the list."  The phone is right there. When I buy something,  I delete it from the list.

It is great isn't it?

My kids are in the school band and when I am at those parent meeting - you know the ones - I pull out the Fuze and make lists of all the stuff they and I need to do, all the items they need to pack for the various band trips, etc.

There are a couple of note programs.  I've tried them too.  With one of them, you can write with the stylus right on the screen and don't have to thumb type, but I have settled in with Word.

I also open the calendar right away and enter all the practice, parade and performance dates etc.  I am always afraid that the people around me might think that I am rudely "playing" with my phone and not paying attention but "oh well" this works for me.

Just a reminder to note: You have to change the default format on your phone!

Documents you create on PC and move to phone, then edit, then move back to PC is no problem. They are all *.DOC.

Documents created on the Fuze have a default of *.DOCX. They could not be read on my PC. Think this applies to other Mobile applications (excel, PP, ect. ) I never tried.

When you sync the phone to the PC and move the document, it will automatically convert it.

I am using Word 2007 and do not have any trouble with the .Docx thing.  The default for Word 2007 is .Docx.

Mick, Did you say that this rom we are using actually has the Office 2010 mobile suite?

My parents are running Word 2007 on their p.c. too but since so many of their friends are still running earlier versions, I changed theirs so that their documents are saved as .doc instead of .docx.  That way if they email documents to their friends, their friends can open them.  (Their friends could download a free converter from Microsoft, but try going into all that with Senior citizens... forget it.  They could also save their docs as PDF's and send to their friends but forget trying to teach my dad how to do that!)

300, I stand corrected. David Test.DOCX did open in Word 2003.

Mishy, You are correct. Office 2010 is on the Fuze with EnergyROM
