Ok,

I was running an application to Security/SIM/CID unlock my phone and I didn't follow ALL of the instructions (yeah, taking a shortcut) and bricked my phone on the rainbow screen telling me I had a Flash Error and that I needed to try again. Problem is, I could not try again since the RUU can't see the phone unless it's in ActiveSync mode to start.

SOOOOOOOOO... I panic'd and did some searching on our friends forums (XDA-Developers) and found this little Gem that got me out of the bind:

Original Post here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154

Now, this was posted under the Kaiser section, but worked for me on my Fuze! Please note, the below information has been edited from the original post to reflect what worked with my Fuze...

Quote
1. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete)

kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe

2. Connect the USB Cable

3. Run mtty and Choose USB in 'PORT' (Edit: The original post showed something else, but for the Fuze, just choose USB)

4. type "set 16 0" without the quotes to tell boot loader to boot the OS after reset.

5. type "task 8" to get your device formatted

6. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot I did not have to do this step as the step above this one rebooted my phone and it came back to life!!

7. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.

You can download the MTTY application from the original post above.

Hope this helps if anyone brick's their phone with a bad ROM Flash!

Well, I told you I successfully unlocked my phone. It's unlocked and working, however, if you read back, I mention that I did have a minor issue because *I* didn't follow all the instructions, but if you were to follow them and not skip over one key part that I did, then no, you won't have an issue with unlocking the Fuze. Another thing to note, if you run the HardSPL on your Fuze, you'll ALWAYS be able to get back to the "Boot Loader" screen, so your phone will never be bricked from a bad flash.

HardSPL is FREE and I would suggest you do it if you plan to play with flashing or want a recovery method when flashing official ROM's.
